What this site collects directly
The contact form asks for a name, an email address, and a message, submitted only when you choose to send it — it is delivered to our inbox through Brevo, our email provider, used solely to respond to your message, and is not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing. If you subscribe to the newsletter in the site footer, your email address is stored with Brevo, our email provider, and every email carries an unsubscribe link. No account system exists on TyingPoint, and no login or personal profile is required to use any part of the site, including the free tools.
Payments
The printable knot field cards product and the support-us donation option are both processed through Stripe. TyingPoint does not receive or store your card number, expiration date, or CVC — that information goes directly to Stripe, which handles it under its own privacy and security practices. We receive only the information necessary to fulfil an order (such as an email address for delivery) or acknowledge a donation.
Analytics
This site uses Vercel Web Analytics and Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic patterns — which pages are visited, roughly how, and from where — so the site can be improved over time. This data is aggregated and is not used to build an individual profile of any specific visitor tied to their real-world identity.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies to tell one visit from another; Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies. Google's advertising cookies, which can personalise ads using your browsing on other websites, are explained under Advertising below. Disabling cookies in your browser will not prevent you from reading any knot page, task hub, activity hub, or comparison on the site — only the free client-side tools, analytics and ad personalisation may be affected.
Advertising
Google AdSense places display ads on TyingPoint, and that income helps keep the knot reference free. The cookies Google uses for this let it pick an ad and count whether it was seen; with personalisation enabled, the pick can also reflect your activity on other websites. Personalised-ad cookies need your agreement first if you are in the EEA or the UK, where Google shows its own consent prompt, and you can alter that answer later.
Tying instructions, strength notes and safety warnings are written for the knot alone; no advertiser can change them or see them before publication. Some knot pages also link to practice cord, paracord or a fid on Amazon as an affiliate, never to life-safety gear, as the affiliate disclosure explains.
Google My Ad Center, Google's dashboard for ad settings, shows why an ad was chosen and lets you turn personalisation off; interest-based advertising from other companies can be switched off through aboutads.info. Google explains its advertising cookies in its advertising policy.
The three free tools
The knot picker, step player, and rope-length estimator all run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type, select, or calculate in any of them is transmitted to a server, logged, or stored anywhere — closing the browser tab clears it completely.

This site occasionally links to other sites, including a small, curated set of sister projects in the site footer. TyingPoint isn't responsible for the privacy practices of any external site you may click through to.
