Terms of Use

Educational content, not professional instruction

TyingPoint's knot diagrams, tying steps, and strength/security notes are provided for general learning purposes. They are not a substitute for qualified in-person instruction, and they carry no guarantee of accuracy for any specific rope, load, or situation. Trusting a knot with an actual fall, an actual rescue, or any other situation where a person's safety depends on the rope holding is never something a website alone should decide for you — that calls for real, hands-on training, and your own careful inspection of the specific knot and rope in front of you, judged honestly against the real risk involved. TyingPoint and its operator accept no liability for injury, loss, or damage arising from reliance on any content on this site.

Original content and intellectual property

Every diagram on this site is an original asset, drawn specifically for TyingPoint — reproducing, tracing, or redistributing them elsewhere without permission is not permitted. The written prose on each page is likewise original to this site. Knot names, general knot-tying techniques, and the underlying facts of history and mechanics are, of course, part of the public domain of knot-tying knowledge and not owned by anyone.

The paid product

The printable knot field cards PDF is sold for personal, non-commercial use. Purchasing it grants you a license to print and use the PDF yourself; it does not grant a license to resell, redistribute, or republish the file itself.

Payments and refunds

Payments for the printable knot field cards product, and donations through support-us, are processed by Stripe. If a payment fails to deliver the product you purchased due to a technical error on our end, contact us and we'll make it right. Digital product sales are generally final once delivered, except where required otherwise by applicable consumer protection law.

Site availability

TyingPoint is provided "as is," without warranty that it will be available at all times or free of errors. Content, including knot facts and strength notes, may be corrected or updated as better information becomes available — see the methodology page for how that process works.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time as the site evolves. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
